Upon arrival at Zurich Airport or your hotel, meet your private driver-guide and set off on the short, scenic drive south to Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland.

As you leave the bustle of Zurich behind, the landscape softens into rolling hills and shimmering lakes, with the Alps appearing in the distance.

Lucerne, which will be your base for the next 2 nights is just an hour away.

Lucerne Old Town and Landmarks

Once settled, spend the afternoon exploring Lucerne’s beautifully preserved Old Town, where cobblestone streets wind past painted facades and lively squares.

Cross the iconic Chapel Bridge, one of Europe’s oldest wooden bridges, and admire its colorful flower boxes and historic paintings. Nearby, the haunting yet moving Lion Monument commemorates a legendary moment in Swiss history — your guide can share the dramatic story in a way even younger travelers will enjoy.

Swiss Museum of Transport

For a fun and interactive experience, visit the Swiss Museum of Transport, a favorite with families thanks to its hands-on exhibits covering everything from trains and planes to space exploration and driving simulators.

Children can try their hand at piloting, while adults enjoy the fascinating displays on Swiss innovation.

Mount Pilatus

Cap off your day with an ascent of Mount Pilatus, riding the modern Dragon Ride cable car up to panoramic peaks, then descending via the world’s steepest cogwheel railway — an exhilarating way to end your first day!

Return to your comfortable Lucerne accommodation for a relaxing evening by the lake.

Day 2 – Lake Brienz & Interlaken: Waterfalls and Wood Carving

Enjoy a classic Swiss breakfast in the morning to fuel up the family bejore greeting your driver guide again to head towards the Bernese Oberland, crossing the scenic Brünig Pass into one of Switzerland’s most stunning alpine regions.

Giessbach Falls

Your first stop is the spectacular Giessbach Falls, a multi-tiered waterfall that tumbles into the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz.

Ride the charming historic funicular up the hillside, where you can walk along the pathways and bridges to feel the spray of the cascading water and admire the breathtaking views over the lake.

It’s a perfect spot for family photos.

Brienz Village and Wood Carving

Continue to the quaint lakeside village of Brienz, famous for its wood carving traditions that date back centuries.

Visit a traditional woodcarving museum to see exquisite examples of Swiss craftsmanship. Take the opportunity to partake in a specially arranged hands-on family woodcarving workshop, where everyone can create their small keepsake to take home!

Private Boat on Lake Brienz

Our team will arrange for your Captain to meet you for a relaxing boat ride across Lake Brienz, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the very special sight of the mountains reflected in the water before returning to Lucerne for the night.

Day 3 – Jungfrau Region: Alpine Adventure & Mountain Magic

After breakfast in the Interlaken area, set out with your private driver-guide for a day of high-altitude fun and family-friendly adventure in the Jungfrau Region.

Ride one of the spectacular mountain cable cars — either to Männlichen Ridge or Grindelwald First — and watch as the valley falls away and the snow-capped peaks rise all around you.

At the top, you’ll find alpine playgrounds, broad meadows perfect for exploring, and short, gentle ridge walks where even young children can feel like mountaineers.

Cheese-Making on an Alpine Farm

A highlight for many families comes next: a visit to a working alpine farm, where you can meet the cows and learn the centuries-old art of Swiss cheese-making.

Roll up your sleeves and try your hand at stirring the curds or shaping the rounds, all while sampling the fresh milk and cheeses produced right on site. This hands-on experience delights younger kids while giving everyone an authentic taste of mountain life.

Optional Adventures for Active Families

For families with older children and teens, your guide can lead you on the moderate hike to Bachalpsee, a crystal-clear alpine lake that reflects the peaks in its still waters.

Or, for a burst of adrenaline, you can opt to add on a ride down the slopes on mountain carts or the unique Trottibikes — thrilling but safe options that teenagers and adventurous adults love.

Lunch With a View

Pause for a hearty family lunch on a sunny terrace with sweeping mountain views.

Enjoy Swiss favorites like rösti, alpine sausage, and fresh salads as you relax and soak in the crisp mountain air.

Harder Kulm at Sunset

Back in Interlaken later in the day, end your adventure with a quick trip up to the Harder Kulm viewpoint, easily reached by funicular.

From here, the view stretches out over both Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, with the Jungfrau massif glowing in the evening light — a perfect finale to your time in the Bernese Oberland.

Your driver will deliver you to your accommodation in Montreux for the evening.

Day 4 – Golden Pass to Lake Geneva: Gruyères & Montreux

After breakfast, check out and join your driver-guide for one of Switzerland’s most scenic journeys: the Golden Pass route, which winds from the Bernese Alps to the Lake Geneva region.

As you travel through lush valleys and high passes, the landscape shifts from dramatic peaks to gentle vineyards and lakeshores. Your guide will suggest stops to stretch your legs, take photos, and enjoy the ever-changing views.

Gruyères: Castles and Culture

Your first major stop is the fairytale hilltop town of Gruyères, famed for its medieval charm.

Wander the cobbled streets of the car-free village, lined with stone fountains, artisan shops, and flower-draped balconies.

Families with older kids or teens may also enjoy a visit to H.R. Giger’s (perhaps best known for his biomechanical artworks, and of course, for designing the creature from the “Alien” movie) surreal art museum, tucked within the town’s medieval walls.

Finally, explore the imposing Gruyères Castle, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and plenty of history to discover.

Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory

Just a short drive from Gruyères, you can opt to stop at the famous Maison Cailler chocolate factory for a sweet interlude.

Learn how Swiss chocolate is made, and of course, sample a wide variety of irresistible creations — a sure favorite for children and adults alike.

Montreux: Lakeside Relaxation

By late afternoon, return to Montreux.

Day 5 – Zermatt & Matterhorn: Alpine Icons and Family Fun

After breakfast in Montreux, your private driver-guide whisks you away on a spectacular drive through the Rhône Valley toward the car-free alpine village of Zermatt.

Sunnegga: Matterhorn Views

Zermatt offers two family-friendly ways to climb even higher and enjoy incredible Matterhorn views.

The Sunnegga Express funicular is a perennial kid favorite — a quick, steep underground ride that pops out at a sunny alpine plateau where the Matterhorn seems close enough to touch.

Family-Friendly Alpine Activities

Once at altitude, there’s plenty to delight the whole family. In summer, follow the gentle Marmot Trail, where kids can spot these furry alpine creatures in their natural habitat, or let little ones enjoy the mountaintop playgrounds with incredible backdrops.

For a dash of adrenaline, take a few runs on the seasonal alpine toboggan track, always a hit with both kids and parents.

Matterhorn Museum

Back in the village, you can stop at the compact Matterhorn Museum, which brings the region’s mountaineering history to life with interactive exhibits that appeal to all ages.

As the afternoon winds down, your driver will deliver you to Zurich for your final day.

Day 6 – Rhine Falls & Swiss Castles: A Grand Finale

On your final day, set out after breakfast for a scenic drive from Zurich. En route, stop at the spectacular Rhine Falls, where the thundering water cascades over ancient rock in a breathtaking natural display.

Explore the terraces and viewing platforms that bring you thrillingly close to the spray, and if you’re feeling adventurous, board a family-friendly boat ride that takes you right to the base of the falls — a safe but exhilarating finale to your alpine adventure.

Stein am Rhein or Kyburg Castle

Your guide can then take you to one final stop, tailored to your family’s interests. You might choose to stroll through the medieval town of Stein am Rhein, famed for its beautifully painted facades and quaint squares, or visit atmospheric Kyburg Castle, where children can explore the ramparts and imagine life as a Swiss knight.

Return to Zurich in the late afternoon, where your guide will drop you at your hotel or directly at Zurich Airport for your departure as you say farewell to Switzerland.
